I sailed Norwegian Luna on her first U.S. sailing, a 4-night Bahamas cruise from Miami on March 23, 2026, and I came away really impressed.
This was a solo cruise for me, which made it a little different from most of my sailings. I usually cruise with one of my daughters, so I am always looking at ships through the eyes of a parent. But this time, I had the chance to experience Luna as a solo traveler, while still paying close attention to the family spaces, kids’ activities, dining options, outdoor areas, and overall flow of the ship.
And honestly, I really liked this ship.
Norwegian Luna is stylish, modern, clean, and upscale without feeling too formal. It has plenty to do, but it does not feel like one of the massive mega ships where you are constantly racing from one end to the other. I love Royal Caribbean’s Oasis Class, and those are still some of my favorite ships at sea, but Luna hits a very different sweet spot. It is big enough to be exciting, but not so big that it feels overwhelming.
For me, the biggest takeaway is this: Norwegian Luna may have the best outdoor space of any cruise ship I have sailed on. And after more than 30 cruises across multiple cruise lines, that is not something I say lightly.
Between Ocean Boulevard, Infinity Beach, La Terrazza, the Indulge Outdoor Lounge, and the Vibe Beach Club, Luna feels incredibly connected to the ocean. There are so many places to sit outside, eat outside, have a drink outside, relax outside, and just enjoy being at sea. That connection to the water is where this ship really shines.

Would I sail Norwegian Luna again? Yes, absolutely
Norwegian Luna Ship Overview
Norwegian Luna is part of Norwegian Cruise Line’s newer Prima Plus Class, and she carries forward the stylish, resort-like feel that Norwegian has been leaning into with its newest ships.
This is not a traditional cruise ship in the sense of having one massive central promenade or one obvious “heart” of the ship. In fact, that was one of the things that felt odd at first. Luna has a lot of smaller venues, smaller lounges, tucked-away spaces, and separate neighborhoods rather than one huge central gathering area. There is no Royal Promenade-style space and no giant atrium that serves as the centerpiece of the ship.
At first, that made the ship a little strange to navigate.
But once I got used to it, I started to understand what Norwegian was doing. Luna is less about one big wow space and more about a collection of stylish, comfortable spaces spread throughout the ship. Some are lively, some are quiet, some are indoors, and many are outdoors. It feels more like a modern boutique resort at sea than a traditional cruise ship.

And I have to say, the ship has some of the best sitting areas with views of the ocean of any ship I have sailed. This is very important on a cruise ship and The Luna does it well.

The ship has a clean, upscale look, with modern finishes, bright spaces, great ocean views, and a design that feels current without being cold. It does not feel stuffy or overly formal. It also does not feel chaotic. That balance is one of the things I liked most.
Luna is not trying to be Icon of the Seas, and that is a good thing. It has thrills, entertainment, kids’ activities, great dining, nightlife, and plenty to do, but it never felt like it was trying to overwhelm me. It felt stylish, relaxed, and fun.
First Impressions: Clean, Modern, and Upscale
My first impression of Norwegian Luna was that the ship felt clean, modern, and high-end.
The design is crisp and boutique-hotel inspired, not traditional cruise ship flashy. There are beautiful finishes throughout the ship, and the spaces have a polished feel without being too fancy. I loved the modern design, especially how much of the ship feels bright and open.

That said, Luna did take me a little time to figure out.
The layout is not as intuitive as some other ships I have sailed. There are a lot of smaller areas, and because there is not one big central promenade or obvious main hub, it can feel a little disjointed at first. I found myself wandering a bit on day one trying to understand how everything connected.

The outdoor areas, however, flowed beautifully right away.
That was the part of the ship that immediately made sense to me. Ocean Boulevard, La Terrazza, Infinity Beach, and the outdoor lounge spaces all felt easy, natural, and inviting. The ship seems designed to pull you outside, and that is exactly where Luna is at her best.
The main atrium area was one of the few spaces that underwhelmed me a little. It is modern and attractive, but it is small and does not have the same wow-factor as the central spaces on some other ships. If you are used to Royal Caribbean’s Royal Promenade, Celebrity’s Grand Plaza, or even some of Norwegian’s older atrium setups, Luna’s atrium may feel more understated.
But the more time I spent onboard, the more I realized Luna’s best spaces are not necessarily inside. They are outside, facing the ocean.
Outdoor Spaces on Norwegian Luna
The outdoor spaces are the star of Norwegian Luna.
I have sailed more than 30 cruises on multiple cruise lines, and I honestly think Luna may have the best outdoor space of any ship I have sailed on. That is the biggest compliment I can give this ship.
What makes the outdoor space so good is not just the amount of seating, although there is a lot of it. It is the variety. There are loungers, daybeds, chairs, tables, shaded areas, sunny areas, oceanfront spots, social spaces, quiet corners, and outdoor dining areas. It feels like Norwegian really thought through how people actually want to spend time outside on a cruise.
Ocean Boulevard
Ocean Boulevard is one of the features that makes Norwegian Luna feel different from a lot of other cruise ships. Instead of making the pool deck the only major outdoor gathering space, this outdoor wrap-around promenade spans the entire ship. That gives Luna a much better connection to the ocean.

I really enjoyed Ocean Boulevard during the day. It gave me a place to walk, sit, relax, and enjoy the ship without feeling like I had to fight for space on the main pool deck. That matters because, in my opinion, the main pool deck is one of Luna’s weaker points. It is beautiful, but it is too small for the size of the ship.
Ocean Boulevard helps balance that out.
There are so many different places to sit outside that you can almost always find somewhere to relax. That is one of the things Luna does better than most ships I have sailed. You are not limited to one crowded pool area. You can find a quiet chair, a table, a sunny lounger, a shaded spot, or a social area depending on your mood.
The Concourse
The Concourse was another outdoor space I really enjoyed.
This area has a comfortable, resort-style feel with chairs and tables set around a turf area. I found myself sitting there during the day just enjoying the atmosphere. It is simple, but it works. It gives you another outdoor escape that does not feel like a traditional cruise ship deck.

I sat here and drank a few Hendrick’s and Tonics on this trip!
La Terrazza
La Terrazza was another outdoor space I really enjoyed.
This area has a number of different seating nooks along the Ocean Boulevard. It is a quiet are of the ship, even a bit secluded. It is simple, but it works. It gives you another outdoor escape that does not feel like a traditional cruise ship deck.

I liked that Luna gives you these kinds of spaces where you can just exist. You do not have to be at an activity, in a bar, in a restaurant, or on the pool deck. You can just sit outside, enjoy the ocean air, and relax.
That is one of the reasons the ship worked so well for me.
Indulge Outdoor Lounge
The Indulge Outdoor Lounge may be the best outdoor space on Norwegian Luna that does not require an extra fee.
I loved this area. This is what you wish cruise ships outdoor decks looked like!

The seating is varied, comfortable, and stylish, and the whole space feels like somewhere you would find at a high-end resort. I spent time here in the evenings having drinks, and it quickly became one of my favorite places on the ship. There are loungers, daybeds, and outdoor seating areas that make it one of the best areas on the ship.

What makes it so great is the combination of comfort and atmosphere. You have outdoor seating, ocean views, food nearby, drinks nearby, and a relaxed energy that makes you want to stay longer than you planned. It is one of those spaces that shows how well Norwegian understands outdoor cruising on this class of ship.
For me, the Indulge Outdoor Lounge is a must-visit area on Luna. Even if you do not eat at Indulge Food Hall, make time to sit outside here with a drink.
I spent a lot of time sitting in this area daily.
Outdoor Dining on Norwegian Luna
One of the things I really liked about Luna is that so many restaurants offer outdoor seating.
That is a huge plus.
On some ships, outdoor dining is limited to the buffet or a casual poolside grill. On Luna, the outdoor dining options feel more integrated into the ship. That makes the whole cruise feel more connected to the ocean. You can eat outside, have drinks outside, relax outside, and keep that sea view as part of the experience.
This is where Luna shines. The ship does not just give you outdoor space. It gives you useful outdoor space.
Pool Deck, Kids Area, and Infinity Pools on Norwegian Luna
The pool deck on Norwegian Luna is beautiful, but it is also one of the areas where I think the ship falls a little short.
The design is crisp, modern, and clean. It looks great. The problem is that the main pool deck feels too small for the size of the ship. During peak times, it can get crowded, and I did not think there were enough loungers right around the main pool area.
That said, Luna does offer a lot of seating around the rest of the ship, especially near the infinity areas and along the outdoor decks. So while the main pool deck itself may feel tight, the ship as a whole still gives you plenty of outdoor places to sit.
Main Pool Deck
The main pool deck has a stylish, modern look that fits the rest of the ship perfectly. It feels fresh and upscale, with a cleaner design than what you find on many older ships.

But it is small.
If you are the kind of cruiser who wants to spend all day right by the main pool, this is something you need to know before booking Norwegian Luna. Chair availability around the pool can be an issue, and the space can feel busy when everyone is out enjoying the sun.

The pool deck is not bad. In fact, it is very attractive. It is just not big enough to be the main outdoor focus for a ship this size.

The good news is that Luna has so many other outdoor spaces that you do not have to rely on the main pool deck to enjoy the ship.
Kids Aqua Park
The kids splash area on Luna is on the smaller side, but I still think it is a nice feature for families with younger children.

What I liked most was the seating around it. The splash area itself may not be huge, but there is a good amount of space nearby for parents to sit while the kids play. That makes a big difference.
As someone who usually cruises with one of my daughters, I always look at these areas through a family lens. My girls are 7 and 10, so I know what to look for when it comes to kid-friendly cruise ship design.
For smaller kids, I think this area works well. It gives them a place to splash, play, and burn off energy without needing to be in the main pool. For older kids or tweens, the real action is probably going to be Luna Midway, the Aqua Slidecoaster, the arcade, mini golf, and the other activity areas.
Infinity Beach and the Lower Deck Infinity Pools
I loved the infinity pools on Luna. There is one on each side of the ship.

They are small, but that is actually part of the charm. Smaller pool areas naturally create conversation. You end up meeting people, chatting, and getting that fun social pool vibe that can sometimes be lost on larger ships.
The infinity pools also give you that incredible connection to the ocean. Sitting in or near the water and looking straight out to sea is exactly what cruising should feel like.
For me, Infinity Beach was one of the best pool-related areas on the ship. It is not about size. It is about atmosphere. It feels relaxed, scenic, and very different from the main pool deck.

If the main pool deck feels too crowded, this is where I would head.
Vibe Beach Club on Norwegian Luna
Vibe Beach Club was one of the absolute highlights of my Norwegian Luna cruise.

I booked Vibe before the cruise, and it cost $229 for my sailing. I used it every day, multiple times a day. It became my go-to spot during the day, and honestly, it made the whole cruise better.
If you are someone who hates waking up early to reserve a chair by the pool, Vibe is worth serious consideration. Having a dedicated adults-only outdoor area where I knew I could find a comfortable place to sit was a huge win.
The Atmosphere in Vibe Beach Club
Vibe had the perfect mix of upscale and relaxed.

During the day, it felt like a private retreat. It was quiet enough to relax, but not so quiet that it felt boring. Around the bar, it became more social, and that balance worked really well.
This was not a party zone, but it was also not sleepy. It felt like a premium beach club where you could decide what kind of day you wanted. You could read and relax in a lounger, hang out by the bar, meet people, or cool off in one of the hot tubs.
That flexibility is what made it so good.
The Vibe Beach Club Staff
The staff in Vibe Beach Club were amazing.

They were fun, friendly, attentive, and treated guests like gold. That level of service really stood out to me. Across the ship, service was good, but Vibe was the clear standout.
Curly was the man.
The staff made the space feel personal. They remembered people, kept the drinks coming, checked in without hovering, and created a relaxed but polished atmosphere. That is exactly what you want in a space like this.
Great service can turn a nice area into a memorable one, and that is what happened here.
The Hot Tubs and Drink Service
Vibe had two hot tubs during my sailing, and I loved how they were different temperatures. One was actually hot, and the other was cooler, which made it perfect when you wanted to cool off without fully leaving the water.
That may sound like a small thing, but it worked really well.

The drink service was stellar. I had the Free at Sea Plus package, so just about everything I wanted was covered, and Vibe made it very easy to enjoy the package. I did not eat any food in Vibe, but as a place for drinks, sun, and relaxation, it was outstanding.
Is Vibe Beach Club Worth It on Norwegian Luna?
For me, yes. Absolutely.
Vibe Beach Club was worth the money and became one of my favorite parts of the cruise.
I would especially recommend it to adults who want a guaranteed place to relax without fighting for chairs. If you are a pool deck person, you should know that Vibe does not replace a traditional pool. The hot tubs are great, but if you need a large pool to be happy, Vibe may not fully satisfy that.
But if you want a comfortable, adults-only outdoor retreat with great service, beautiful views, strong drinks, and a relaxed social atmosphere, Vibe is a fantastic upgrade.
For me, it was one of the best things on the ship.
Dining on Norwegian Luna
Dining is one of the areas where Norwegian Luna really impressed me.
Norwegian does dining differently from some other cruise lines. There is a lot of variety, a lot of flexibility, and a strong emphasis on specialty dining and casual food venues. On Luna, that works really well.
I had the dining package and booked my restaurants as soon as I got onboard. That is my biggest tip: book early. I did not have any trouble getting the reservations I wanted, but I also handled it right away. On a ship with this many popular venues, waiting can make things harder.
Complimentary Dining on Norwegian Luna
Dining was one of the parts of Norwegian Luna I was most interested to experience. Norwegian Cruise Line has always been known for freestyle dining, and Norwegian Luna really leans into that idea. You are not locked into one dining room or one type of meal. Instead, the ship gives you a wide variety of complimentary restaurants, casual spots, food hall options, and specialty restaurants.
Hudson’s

Hudson’s was an amazing dining space because of the views. It has a beautiful location with big windows and a scenic atmosphere that makes dinner feel special even though it is complimentary. The food is what I would describe as modern main dining room fare, with a mix of familiar dishes, rotating menu items, and enough variety for different tastes. Now I usually try the main dining room once, but I always choose the specialty dining options when I cruise.
The Commodore Room

The Commodore Room gives you another complimentary main dining room option. Located by the whiskey bar, it has a more traditional dining room feel, which I know many cruisers still enjoy. This is the kind of place where you can sit down, enjoy multiple courses, and have a more classic cruise dinner experience in a more intimate space.
Indulge Food Hall

Indulge Food Hall was one of the most unique and awesome food venues I have ever seen on a cruise ship.
I loved it.

The concept is simple but brilliant. Instead of standing in buffet lines or committing to one restaurant, you sit down and order from a tablet. Food comes from different stations, so you can mix and match dishes from a variety of cuisines.

The tablet ordering worked great for me, and I thought it was one of the best parts of the whole experience. It made everything easy. You could order a few small things, try different flavors, and go back for more without leaving your seat.

I ate at Indulge every morning for breakfast and often came back in the evening for a quick bite. I sampled something from each place and enjoyed it all.
This is exactly the kind of venue that makes Luna feel modern. It is casual, flexible, fun, and different from the normal cruise ship dining routine.
I ate both inside and outside, but mostly inside. Still, the outdoor lounge area attached to Indulge was one of my favorite spaces on the ship. In the evenings, I loved having drinks out there. The seating was comfortable, the atmosphere was great, and the whole area felt like a premium outdoor lounge without an extra charge.
Indulge Food Hall is a major win for Norwegian Luna.
Surfside Cafe and Grill
Surfside Cafe and Grill is Luna’s buffet, and this was probably my least favorite dining venue onboard.

The buffet area felt small and narrow. The food was your usual cruise buffet, which means it was fine, but nothing that really stood out. If I had to pick my most disappointing meal experience on Luna, it would probably be the buffet.
That does not mean it was bad. It just was not special.
The seating area, however, had beautiful views. That helped the experience quite a bit. I just wish the buffet itself felt a little more open and had a stronger flow.

Like the main pool deck, the buffet is one of the areas where Luna can feel a little too compact for the size of the ship.
The Local Bar & Grill
The Local was a fun spot, especially later in the evening.

The staff were great, and the crowd had a fun energy. I liked that it gave the ship a casual, easygoing venue where you could grab something to eat or drink without making a big production out of it.
This is the kind of casual, pub-style restaurant that is perfect when you want comfort food. Think sandwiches, fish and chips, casual bites, and a relaxed atmosphere.
It is complimentary, which makes it a great go-to spot when you do not want a formal meal. And, when your drink package starts to kick in, this is the place to go. I have to admit I dropped in for wings and a hot dog several times.
It’s open late as well, making this a spot you will end up ordering food late night from for sure.
Every ship needs a place like this. The Local fills that role well on Luna.
Specialty Dining: Where Norwegian Luna Feels Elevated
Norwegian is known for specialty dining, and Luna gives you a lot of strong options.
I ate at Cagney’s Steakhouse, Nama Sushi, and Sukhothai. I also walked through or checked out several other venues and liked the overall variety. The ship feels like it gives you options without making everything feel repetitive.
Cagney’s Steakhouse
Cagney’s was my best meal of the cruise.

The food was excellent, the service was strong, and the whole meal felt like the kind of specialty dining experience I hope for when I book a steakhouse at sea.
Cagney’s has that classic steakhouse feel, and it delivered exactly what I wanted. If you are going to book one specialty restaurant on Norwegian Luna and you like steak, this would be my pick.
It was the standout meal of the cruise for me.
Le Bistro

For a romantic dinner, Le Bistro is a beautiful option. The French-inspired menu, elegant atmosphere, and classic dishes make it a great choice for couples or anyone celebrating something special. I like having a restaurant onboard that feels a little more intimate and date-night friendly. I sadly ate here alone on my cruise, but I enjoyed the food nonetheless.
Nama Sushi

Nama Sushi was great.
I really enjoyed this venue. It felt fresh, modern, and a nice change of pace from heavier cruise meals. Sushi is one of those things that can be hit or miss on a cruise ship, but Nama worked well for me.
It is also a great option if you want something lighter or do not want a long, drawn-out dinner.
Onda by Scarpetta

Onda by Scarpetta is another strong specialty option, especially if you enjoy Italian food. It has a polished, modern Italian feel with pasta, seafood, wine, and a more upscale atmosphere. Onda has outdoor seating as well, which I love on cruise ships. Italian dining is always popular on cruises, and Onda feels like a great fit for a special dinner without being overly formal. They also can accommodate large tables, which is good to know if you are cruising with a big group.
Palomar

Palomar is another restaurant that stood out to me because of its Mediterranean focus. It feels lighter, elegant, and seafood-forward. This is a great pick if you enjoy fresh fish, coastal flavors, wine, and a more sophisticated dining experience. The tables provide an amazing view as there are floor to ceiling windows in the dining room and there is an entire outdoor seating area that backs up to the main pool.
Sukhothai

I ate at the little bar at Sukhothai and liked it.
The views were great, and the setting made the experience feel special. I always appreciate when a restaurant has a bar area where you can sit, eat, and enjoy the atmosphere without needing a full formal meal.
Sukhothai is one of the restaurants that gives Luna a more interesting dining lineup. It is not just another steakhouse or Italian restaurant. It adds variety, and that matters. They also have some counter seating space, which I took advantage of as a solo cruiser.
Hasuki
For something interactive, Hasuki is Norwegian Luna’s Japanese grill experience. This is always a fun choice because the meal becomes part dinner and part entertainment. The chef prepares dishes like steak, shrimp, chicken, and fried rice right in front of you. I think this is one of the best specialty dining choices for families, groups, and anyone who enjoys a fun atmosphere at dinner.
Los Lobos

If you want something more lively and flavorful, Los Lobos brings Mexican cuisine to the ship with dishes like carne asada, guacamole, and margaritas. I love having Mexican food as a specialty option because it works well for groups, families, and anyone who wants a fun dinner instead of something formal. This restaurant was fun!
Thoughts on Specialty Dining
I think one of the most important things regarding specialty dining on cruise ships is having a good advisor who manages your expectations. When you know what quality level to realistically expect, you will be less critical and enjoy the food more in my opinion. I do this for all my clients!
I grade cruise ship food on a curve — the cruise ship curve. I more or less judge whether it is on par with the other lines’ specialty restaurants and the food on Luna achieved this.
The specialty restaurants provide the best food on the ship, so I always advocate going to specialty dining. The décor of the restaurants can make the evening memorable, even if the food does not. So, I always say, it’s the experience that I am rating, not always the food.
Bars and Lounges on Norwegian Luna
Norwegian Luna has a solid bar scene, but I would not call it a party ship.
That is actually part of what I liked about it.
The ship felt more relaxed overall, but there were still fun spots when you wanted energy. You could have a quiet martini, a lively night at The Local, a rock bar experience at Syd Norman’s, or a premium beach club day at Vibe.
The drinks were fairly consistent across the ship, and with Free at Sea Plus, just about everything I wanted was covered.
Vibe Beach Club Bar
The Vibe Bar was easily one of my favorite bars on the ship.
A lot of that had to do with the staff. They were excellent. Friendly, fun, attentive, and genuinely memorable.

During the day, this was my home base. I could sit in Vibe, order a drink, relax, and not worry about the pool deck chaos. Around the bar, the energy became more social, which gave the space a great balance.
For me, this was the best bar experience on Luna.
Syd Norman’s Pour House
Syd Norman’s Pour House was another highlight. For nightlife, Syd Norman’s Pour House brings a completely different energy. By far my favorite bar on the ship. It has a rock-and-roll feel, live music, and a more energetic atmosphere.

I dropped in nightly and really enjoyed both the bar and the music. The room has a real rock bar feel, and that makes a big difference. It does not feel like a generic cruise ship lounge pretending to be edgy. It feels authentic.
The sound was really dialed in, the bands were excellent, and the whole venue had a great energy. My only complaint on this bar is that I wish it was bigger.
This was one of the few music venues on the ship where the live entertainment really stood out. Syd Norman’s fills up quickly, so come early if you want a good spot.
Metropolitan Bar
Metropolitan Bar was great.

This was a good spot to drop in for martinis, and I liked the style of the space. It had a more refined feel and worked well when I wanted something a little more relaxed than the louder nightlife spots.
For me, Metropolitan was one of the better indoor bars on the ship.
The Belvedere Bar
The Belvedere Bar was very good and added another stylish indoor lounge option.

I liked that Luna has several smaller bar spaces rather than one or two massive venues. That can make the ship feel a little unusual at first, but once you figure it out, it gives you a lot of different moods to choose from.
Belvedere fits that pattern nicely.
The Daily
The Daily was awesome and fun at night.

The staff here were especially good later in the evening, and the crowd had a fun energy. This was one of the spots where the ship came alive a bit more without turning into a full party scene.
I liked that Luna gave me options. If I wanted a relaxed drink, I could find that. If I wanted something more fun, The Daily or Syd Norman’s usually worked.
Swirl Wine Bar

I did not drink at Swirl Wine Bar, but I did check it out.
It looked awesome, though very small. That seems to be a theme on Luna. There are a lot of cool spaces, but some of them are compact. That can make them feel intimate and stylish, but also busy at peak times.
If you are a wine person, this is absolutely a spot I would check out early in the cruise.
Whiskey Bar

The Whiskey Bar on Norwegian Luna was one of those spots that surprised me in the best way. It is tucked a little out of the main flow of the ship, so you may not stumble into it unless you are looking for it, but that actually became part of the appeal. It felt like a hidden retreat — quiet, stylish, and completely different from the brighter, busier venues around the ship.
I loved the dark whiskey bar vibe here. The room had that warm, moody atmosphere you want from a good whiskey lounge, with deep tones, comfortable seating, soft lighting, and a more grown-up feel. It was the kind of space where you could actually slow down for a bit, settle into a chair, and enjoy a drink without feeling like you were in the middle of the ship’s main traffic pattern.
If you enjoy whiskey, bourbon, or just like a darker lounge with a classic cocktail-bar feel, this is definitely a spot worth seeking out on Norwegian Luna. It may not be the first bar everyone finds, but for me, that made it even better.
The Bull’s Eye Bar

Bull’s Eye Bar on Norwegian Luna is a small spot, but it has a lot going for it. Tucked into the Luna Midway area, it feels like a mini sports bar at sea — casual, relaxed, and easy to pop into when you want a drink without heading to one of the bigger venues.
What really makes this bar stand out is the view. Bull’s Eye looks out over the back of the ship and down toward the Vibe Beach Club area, so you get that great aft-facing ocean scenery while still being connected to the energy of the Midway. It is one of those spots where you can grab a drink, look out over the wake, and feel like you found a little hidden corner of the ship.
Observation Lounge
I have to mention a ship standout – the Observation Lounge, which provides a completely unique experience onboard the ship.

This was one of my favorite places to slow down on Norwegian Luna. While the pool deck is about sunshine, music, and movement, the Observation Lounge is about comfort, views, and breathing room. I found it calm, comfortable, and not overly crowded during the day, and that matched the kind of atmosphere I look for when I want a break from the busier parts of the ship.

I also often work while cruising, and this space provides the perfect spot on the ship for those of us on working vacations.
What makes the Observation Lounge special is that it gives you those beautiful forward-facing cruise ship views without requiring you to be outside in the heat, wind, or direct sun. For me, that matters. Not every guest wants to sit on the pool deck all afternoon, especially on a hot Caribbean sailing.
The Observation Lounge also has a full bar as well as refreshments and snacks throughout the day.

Make sure you make visiting this area a priority, it could easily slip by you with everything else the ship has to offer.
Luna Midway and Kids Activities
Luna Midway is one of the areas that makes Norwegian Luna a strong option for families, kids, and teens.

I cruised solo on this sailing, but I usually cruise with one of my daughters, who are 7 and 10. So even when I am not traveling with them, I pay close attention to kid-friendly spaces. I know what works, what does not, and what keeps kids entertained.
Luna has a lot more for kids than I expected.
Royal Caribbean is still the gold standard for kids’ activities and family-focused ship design, but Luna comes pretty close in several areas.
Aqua Slidecoaster

One of the biggest attention-grabbers on the ship is the Aqua Slidecoaster. This is one of Norwegian Luna’s signature attractions and combines the idea of a waterslide with a thrill ride.
It immediately gives the ship a wow-factor and will definitely appeal to kids, teens, and adventurous adults. It is one of a kind for sure. The Aqua Slidecoaster was very fun and very fast.
It is over quickly, but it is absolutely worth doing. This is one of the big signature attractions on Luna, and it gives the ship something exciting and different.
The lines can get long, so timing matters. If this is high on your list, do not wait until the busiest part of the day to try it.
I thought it was fun and worth doing for sure.
The Drop
The Drop is also worth doing once.
It is one of those attractions that you do for the experience and the story. I do not know that I would spend all day repeating it, but I am glad I tried it.
Glow Court

I checked out the Glow Court, but I will be honest: I was not totally sure what it was for at first.
It is a cool-looking space, and I can see how it fits into the overall activity lineup, especially for kids and teens. It gives Luna another indoor activity area and adds to the ship’s family appeal.
Mini Golf

The mini golf was awesome. It wraps around the Midway area on two decks with some great views.
This was one of the most kid friendly activity areas on the ship. To me, it did not feel like a forgotten cruise ship mini golf course. It felt modern, fun, and thoughtfully designed.
For families, this is a great activity. For adults, it is fun too.
Darts and Games
The darts were fun and added another easy activity option. Located in the Bull’s Eye Bar, darts are always a fun activity.
The Stadium Area had Foosball, Beer Pong, Shuffleboard and Ping Pong tables in one fun area.

The Arcade
The arcade on Norwegian Luna was flat-out impressive.

It was the biggest arcade I have ever seen on a cruise ship and easily the best I have seen by far.

For kids, teens, and families, this is a major plus. If you are cruising with children who like games, this area is going to be a hit. It also gives families something to do when the weather is not ideal or when everyone needs a break from the sun.
Is Norwegian Luna Good for Kids?
Yes, I think Norwegian Luna would be a very good ship for kids, especially older kids and teens.
The kids splash area is better for smaller children, while Luna Midway, the Aqua Slidecoaster, mini golf, darts, Glow Court, and the arcade give older kids and teens plenty to do.
Would I say Luna beats Royal Caribbean for family activities? No. Royal still leads that category.
But Luna is closer than I expected, and I think a lot of families would be very happy on this ship.
Entertainment and Nightlife on Norwegian Luna
Entertainment on Norwegian Luna was a little mixed for me, but the highs were very high. Syd Norman’s was a consistent highlight. But the music around the rest of the ship, especially on the pool deck and in some of the other bars, was average at best.
That was probably one of my bigger disappointments.
Elton John Show
The Elton John show was one of the best surprises of the cruise.

The music, dancing, and effects were all impressive. I went in not knowing exactly what to expect, and it ended up being one of the highlights of the sailing.
This is the kind of show that helps give a ship personality. It had energy, strong production value, and music that connects with a wide range of people.
I loved it.
Eagles Show
The Eagles show in the theater was also very good.

It may not have surprised me quite as much as the Elton John show, but it was still a strong performance and a good night of entertainment.
Syd Norman’s Pour House
Syd Norman’s deserves another mention here because, for me, this was the best live music venue on the ship.

The bands were always a highlight. The sound was dialed in, the room felt authentic, and the whole experience felt more like a real rock bar than a cruise ship lounge.
That is not easy to pull off, but Syd Norman’s does it.
The only catch is that it fills up quickly, so get there early.
Music Around the Ship
This is where Luna could improve.
The music around the pool deck and in some of the other bars was average at best. To me, it felt like a combination of song choice and talent level. It was not terrible, but it was not exciting either. It just felt sort of boring at times.
That stood out more because the music in Syd Norman’s was so good. When one venue is that strong, the average music elsewhere becomes more noticeable.
Nightlife Overall
Norwegian Luna is not a party ship, but you can still find fun at night.
The ship has a more relaxed evening atmosphere overall, but there are lively spots if you want them. Syd Norman’s, The Daily, The Local later in the evening, and some of the bars give you enough options to enjoy yourself.
I liked that balance.
It was not wild, but it was not dead. It felt adult, stylish, and relaxed, with pockets of fun when you wanted them.
Solo Travel on Norwegian Luna
Norwegian Luna is an excellent ship for solo travelers.
I cruised completely solo in a solo balcony cabin, and I loved it. The cabin was perfect for me. It was basically a normal balcony cabin on the solo deck, and it worked really well.
I did not feel like I was compromising by booking solo. That is one of the things Norwegian does better than most cruise lines.
Solo Balcony Cabin
My solo balcony cabin was exactly what I needed.

It did not feel like a tiny studio or an afterthought. It felt comfortable, modern, and functional. For a solo cruise, it was perfect.

Having a balcony as a solo traveler is a huge plus. It gives you your own private outdoor space, which I really appreciated.
Solo Lounge
The solo lounge is a great concept.

I dropped in for coffee and snacks, and I thought the lounge itself was beautiful. The kitchen area was especially nice, and the whole space gave solo travelers a dedicated place to go.

I missed the official meetups, but they did have them. I also ran into several solo travelers throughout the cruise, and I can see how the lounge helps create those connections.
Norwegian clearly embraces solo cruisers, and in my opinion, that is a very wise decision.
A lot of people want to cruise solo, but many cruise lines still make it difficult or expensive. Norwegian does a much better job making solo travelers feel considered.
Would I Recommend Norwegian Luna for Solo Cruisers?
Yes, very much.
Between the solo cabins, the solo lounge, the comfortable ship size, the dining variety, and the relaxed atmosphere, Luna works really well for solo travelers.
You can be social if you want, but you can also enjoy the ship independently without feeling out of place. That is exactly what a good solo cruise should offer.
What I Loved About Norwegian Luna
What I loved most about Norwegian Luna was the balance. The ship feels stylish, but not too formal. It has activities, but it does not feel like everything is nonstop chaos. Not to be to repetitive, but my personal favorite areas were the outdoor spaces. Ocean Boulevard, Infinity Beach, La Terrazza, and the Indulge Outdoor Lounge made the ship feel open and connected to the sea. I love cruise ships that make the ocean part of the experience, and Norwegian Luna does that very well.
I also loved the dining variety. Being able to go from a complimentary main dining room to a food hall, then to Thai food, Italian, Mexican, sushi, French, Mediterranean, or a steakhouse gives the cruise a lot of personality. It keeps the experience from feeling repetitive.
The Design
The ship is clean, modern, and stylish.
It feels upscale without feeling formal. I liked the boutique-hotel feel, the modern finishes, and the overall polish of the ship.
The Outdoor Spaces
This is the ship’s biggest strength.
Ocean Boulevard, Infinity Beach, La Terrazza, the Indulge Outdoor Lounge, and Vibe Beach Club are all fantastic. Luna gives you a true connection to the ocean, and that is something I value a lot on a cruise.
Vibe Beach Club
Vibe blew me away.
It was comfortable, relaxing, social when I wanted it to be, and the staff were outstanding. This was my favorite spot on the ship.
The Dining Variety
The dining options were varied and well done.
Indulge Food Hall was the biggest complimentary dining standout, and Cagney’s was my best meal overall. I liked that Luna gave me plenty of choices without feeling repetitive.
The Observation Lounge
The Observation Lounge was a highlight.
It was beautiful, quiet, scenic, and useful during the day. I loved that it had snacks and a bar, and it became a great place to work or relax.
The Balance of the Ship
This may be the thing I appreciated most.
Luna has plenty to do, but it is not overwhelming. It feels stylish, but not too formal. It has family activities, but it does not feel like a kids-only ship. It has nightlife, but it is not a party ship.
That balance really worked for me.
What Could Be Better on Norwegian Luna
As much as I enjoyed Norwegian Luna, there are a few things I think could be better.
The Main Pool Deck Is Too Small
This is the biggest issue.
The main pool deck is beautiful, but it is too small for the size of the ship. If you are a serious pool deck person, this may bother you.
The Buffet Is Small and Narrow
The buffet was also a little small and narrow.
The seating area had great views, but the buffet itself felt tight. The food was your usual cruise buffet, and it did not stand out compared with the stronger dining options elsewhere on the ship.
The Layout Is Odd at First
Luna can be a little strange to navigate when you first get onboard.
There are a lot of smaller areas and no major central promenade or big atrium centerpiece. I got used to it, but it felt odd at first.
Some Areas Feel Busy at Peak Times
Because the ship has a lot of smaller spaces, certain areas can feel busy during peak times.
This was most noticeable around the main pool deck and buffet. The ship did not feel crowded overall, but those areas definitely did at times.
Live Music Outside the Main Venues Could Be Better
The theater shows and Syd Norman’s were strong.
The music around the rest of the ship was not on the same level. Pool deck music and some bar music felt average, mostly because of song choice and talent level.
Who Norwegian Luna Is Best For
Norwegian Luna is a great fit for a wide range of cruisers, but I think it is especially good for a few types of people.
Solo Cruisers
Luna is excellent for solo travelers.
The solo cabins, solo lounge, and overall ship size make it easy to cruise alone without feeling isolated.
First-Time Cruisers
I think first-time cruisers would really enjoy Luna.
It is stylish, modern, and exciting without being overwhelming. It gives you a lot of dining, activities, bars, and entertainment, but it is not as massive or intense as some of the true mega ships.
Experienced Cruisers Who Want Something Different
If you have sailed a lot of ships and want something that feels modern, ocean-connected, and a little more boutique, Luna is a great choice.
It does not feel like every other cruise ship.
Cruisers Who Love Outdoor Space
If outdoor space matters to you, Luna should be high on your list.
This is where the ship shines.
Adults Who Want a Relaxed But Fun Ship
Luna is not a party ship, but it has fun nightlife, good bars, great dining, and excellent outdoor relaxation spaces.
For adults who want a stylish, relaxed cruise with enough energy to keep things interesting, Luna works very well.
Who Might Not Love Norwegian Luna
Norwegian Luna is not perfect for everyone.
If you want nonstop activities all day and night, you may prefer a larger Royal Caribbean ship.
If you want the absolute best kids club and family design, Royal Caribbean still has the edge.
If the main pool deck is the most important part of your cruise, Luna may feel too small in that area.
And if you want one large central indoor promenade or atrium that serves as the main hub of the ship, Luna does not really offer that.
This ship is more about smaller spaces, stylish design, outdoor connection, varied dining, and a balanced cruise experience.
Things to Know Before You Book Norwegian Luna
Book Vibe Beach Club Early
If Vibe sounds appealing, book it early.
It was one of the best parts of my cruise, and I was glad I purchased it before sailing. Space is limited, and I would not count on being able to grab it later.
Book Specialty Dining as Soon as You Board
I booked my dining as soon as I got onboard and had no issues.
That is what I would recommend. If you wait, popular restaurants and times may fill up.
Do Not Judge the Ship on the Main Pool Deck Alone
The main pool deck is too small, but Luna has excellent outdoor space elsewhere.
If you only focus on the pool deck, you will miss what makes the ship special.
Explore the Outdoor Areas Early
Take time on the first day to walk Ocean Boulevard, find La Terrazza, check out Infinity Beach, and explore the Indulge Outdoor Lounge.
Those spaces are key to understanding the ship.
Give the Layout Time
The layout may feel odd at first.
That is normal. Luna does not have one obvious central hub, so it takes a little time to understand how everything fits together.
Do Not Miss Indulge Food Hall
Indulge Food Hall is a must.
Even if you only stop in for breakfast, a snack, or a quick dinner, make sure you try it. The tablet ordering is easy, the variety is excellent, and the concept is one of the most unique things on the ship.
Get to Syd Norman’s Early
Syd Norman’s fills up quickly.
If live rock music is something you want to experience, check the schedule and arrive early.
Consider a Solo Cabin if Traveling Alone
Norwegian does solo cruising better than most lines.
If you are cruising alone, Luna is a great ship to consider, especially with the solo lounge and solo balcony options.
Final Thoughts: Would I Sail Norwegian Luna Again?
Yes, I would absolutely sail Norwegian Luna again.
I really enjoyed this cruise.
Norwegian Luna is not perfect. The main pool deck is too small, the buffet could be better, and the layout takes some getting used to. But the ship gets so many things right.
The design is clean and modern. The outdoor spaces are some of the best I have ever experienced at sea. Vibe Beach Club was outstanding. Indulge Food Hall was unique and excellent. The dining variety was strong. The Observation Lounge was beautiful. The solo cabin and solo lounge made the ship a great choice for solo cruising.
Most importantly, Luna has balance.
It feels stylish but not stuffy. It has plenty to do without feeling overwhelming. It offers family fun without turning the whole ship into a kids’ zone. It has nightlife without feeling like a party ship. And it gives you a true connection to the ocean, which is something I think more cruise ships need to prioritize.
For cruisers who want a modern, relaxed, food-focused ship with incredible outdoor spaces, Norwegian Luna is an easy recommendation.
I sailed her first U.S. cruise, and I came away impressed.
